Tabletop Role-Playing Games, or TTRPGs, have exploded in popularity over the past decade. Once played only by "nerds", the tabletop gaming scene has become more accessible and therefore more mainstream. Many libraries in Mississippi have started gaming groups that meet regularly. They're a great opportunity to tell a story collaboratively with a dungeon master or game master guiding the way. Players invent a character, help shape world-building, and embark on epic quests. There's a wide world of gaming opportunities out there, many of them no-to-low cost. And if fantasy isn't your cup of tea, don't worry: there's something out there for everyone.

TTPRGs can span months, years, and even decades! Thankfully, there are several short game options out there for people who just want to get their feet wet or aren't ready to commit. Even those these are short, they all give players the opportunity to create a character and learn how to role play.

As we mentioned before, TTRPGs can last a long time over multiple sessions. Some people like to play open campaigns, where characters can drop in and out as needed.
