MLC's Information Services department provides a variety of services to library staff and the general public. Our primary resource library supplements public library collections across the state. Our extensive large print collection allows us to provide special circulation programs like Large Print Extended Loan and Large Print Direct: a service we offer in conjunction with Talking Books Services. We provide the Beehive Resource Sharing platform, so Mississippians have access to books and resources beyond what their local library can offer. Our reference staff provide research and reference help to library staff, the general public, and adults in custody.
Special Collections is also part of the Information Services department, and provides public libraries the opportunity to check out and try non-traditional items like costumes, sewing machines, and more in their community at little to no cost.
MLC has been designated the state document depository for Mississippi's state agencies and has a large collection of print and digital state documents. We were also designated as a select federal depository library on September 19th, 1947, and receive select federal documents in print, which are freely available to the public.
Our Information Services libguide is under development, so if you have questions about these or any of our other programs, please don't hesitate to reach out to Alex Brower, Information Services Director, at abrower@mlc.lib.ms.us or 601-432-4117.
